Washington Romance Writers is a community of support, education and encouragement, connecting writers with their peers at every stage of the writing journey.
Washington Romance Writers (WRW) is an organization for both published and unpublished writers. Our membership includes writers of all levels of accomplishment, from those working on their first manuscript to authors of multiple books.
WRW’s goals are to advance its members’ professional interests, to provide them with opportunities to hone their craft, and to act as a clearinghouse for information about fiction markets and the publishing industry. In addition, WRW supports the mission of the Romance Writers of America to promote excellence in romantic fiction and help writers establish careers in their writing fields.
Toward these goals, WRW provides:
- Opportunities for learning that cover all aspects of fiction writing and the publishing industry
- A 24/7 "Zoom Room" for regularly scheduled and "pick-up" sprint sessions
- An informative monthly newsletter
- A "get your fingers on the keyboard and write" twice-yearly 15k Word Challenge (January and July)
- An optional accountability email group
- A much lauded annual retreat, and
- Additional occasions throughout the program year to come together to spend quality time in the company of writers.

Washington Romance Writers has members at every stage of the writing process, from the newcomer who’s seeking to type “The End” on their first manuscript to the pre-published writer wondering if traditional or indie-publishing is the way to go to the newly published writer celebrating their first sales to the seasoned author with multiple books out strategizing their next marketing campaign. But no matter where we are in our writing careers, the single most important thing the WRW community provides is support.
