From the President

We continue onward

This month, I took the helm as president of the Washington Romance Writers. I want to thank Kelly Maher and the board for their time and dedication. I'm excited to be here and want to share some of the things your new and invigorated board is planning in our mission to lead and grow not only our membership but also your success in writing and reaching your writer goals.

First, as a Writers and Authors organization, we are about writing, publishing, marketing, authorpreneurship, and so much more. We’re planning great monthly meetings with content and speakers to help you on the journey, and we’re proud of the knowledge our members have to share with each other. Please let us know about your “special sauce” and share it for all the members to enjoy!

Second, we’re pleased to note a new quarterly celebratory publication of member accomplishments. Soon there will be a place on the website where you can submit the information when you finish your book, get an agent, get a book deal, have a cover launch, publish a novel, win an award – any of the milestones that mean so much to us all. WRW will publish those milestones four times a year. Not only will it help us share in each other’s success – it will also highlight your endurance as a testament to sticking to a course of action and making ultimate progress. That's inspiring, no matter what stage you're at. Permit us the opportunity to share and celebrate YOU!

Finally, we recognize that in these pandemic times, money can be tight. We’ve been offered two anonymous membership grants, available to you if you need a boost to continue your WRW membership. No questions asked; the grants are confidential and will fully cover one year of WRW dues for two members. Send an email to   president@washingtonromancewriters.com to apply. (Incidentally, RWA has a similar program if it’s the wallet that makes you reluctant to renew your membership.)

If you've been with us for a long time, thank you for staying with us, supporting us, and learning with us. If you are new, we thank you too, and we welcome you. We look forward to working with you this year – to hearing your ideas and inspirations and to sharing our strengths to support each of us on our journey.

See you at our Board and monthly meetings!
